Coordinate search and display

TerraSitu provides two coordinate tools: a coordinate search that flies the map to any location you type, and a coordinate display bar at the bottom of the map that shows your live cursor position. Both tools support multiple coordinate formats.

Coordinate search

Click the crosshair icon in the map toolbar to open the coordinate search input.

Type any coordinate in one of the supported formats. The format is detected automatically as you type — you do not need to select it manually.

Supported formats

FormatExample
Decimal Degrees (DD)-31.9505, 115.8605
Degrees Minutes Seconds (DMS)31°57'02"S 115°51'38"E
Degrees Decimal Minutes (DDM)31°57.033'S 115°51.630'E
UTM / MGA202050H 392200 6462800

Tips for entering coordinates:

  • For DD format, enter latitude first, then longitude, separated by a comma or space.
  • For DMS and DDM, the hemisphere letters (N/S/E/W) can appear before or after the value.
  • For UTM/MGA2020, include the zone number and letter followed by easting and northing.

Going to the location

After typing a valid coordinate, press Enter or click Go. The map flies to the location and places a temporary pin. The pin disappears when you close the search or start navigating away.

Coordinate display bar

The coordinate display bar sits at the bottom of the map and shows the coordinate under your cursor as you move it across the map. It updates in real time.

Cycling display formats

Click the format toggle button (labelled DD, DMS, DDM, or UTM) on the left side of the display bar to cycle through the four formats. The map updates immediately.

Copying a coordinate

Click the coordinate value in the display bar to copy it to your clipboard. A brief "Copied" confirmation appears. Use this to quickly transfer a location into a report, email, or another tool.

Saving your format preference

Your chosen display format is saved per user. The next time you open the map, it will use the format you last selected.
